Family Fishing Weekend

Want to try fishing, and for free? The 15th Annual B.C. Family Fishing Weekend is part of an ongoing effort by The Family Fishing Society of BC to get more people hooked on fishing.
Thanks to the provincial Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations and Fisheries and Oceans Canada, you won’t need a licence to fish B.C.’s lakes, streams, and tidal waters from June 13 to 15.
In addition to free fishing, there will be community events across the province that weekend. In the Lower Mainland, Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC staff and volunteers from the Abbotsford Fire Department host an event from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 at the Fraser Valley Hatchery in Abbotsford. The Seymour Salmonid Society host festivities from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 at North Vancouver’s Rice Lake. Both these venues will feature fun activities like Learn to Fish, prize draws, face painting, trout releases, informative displays, and tours.
