Hidden Gem: Blossom Teas in North Burnaby

A new bubble tea and dessert café has opened in North Burnaby, next to the Mountain Shadow Pub. Years ago, this space was a parking lot, but town homes and retail spaces have made the area more friendly.
Blossom Teas serves Chinese-style desserts. It’s a nice place to order takeout or to enjoy dessert and bubble tea with a few friends. The space is quite small, so it’s not ideal for larger groups.
On a recent visit with family, I tried the New York style Cheesecake with a berry compote($4.99), which featured a graham cracker crust and cheesecake filling. It was delicious and smooth. The Egg Pudding($1.90) comes in a small container, but it was just the right amount for dessert. The large Matcha Shake with mochi($5.50) was quite good and the mochi on top was very soft.
We also tried the large Super Mango Shaved Ice($7.85). The average tasting dish featured room temperature mango chunks, which clashed with the temperature of the shaved ice and ice cream.
Finally, the Condensed Milk Toast($5) came dripping with condensed milk and included more condensed milk on the side. It tasted okay.
A fun feature at the café was an unexpected darts area. Imagine sipping on bubble tea and watching your friends fight it out at darts.
Overall, the desserts and bubble tea were fairly good. It’s a nice place to relax with family and share a few snacks.
