Why did this have to happen? The parents should have agreed to the marriage, it was Jassi's life not their's to decide who she loves or marries. R.I.P jassi we are with you and we will fight for justice.

Is the Canadian government really so cowardly that we would let a corrupt regime like India take out our garbage for us? Given what we now know, does anybody really think Jassi's family will see justice in a country where justice is bought and sold? Her husband spent four years in jail, falsely accused of rape by his wife's killer, while he vacationed with her family in B.C. We don't need to extradite these people. We need to give them a fair Canadian trial, and then they need to spend the rest of their lives in a Canadian Jail! Not an Indian villa!

Bless her. She followed her heart. Everyone should have the freedom to live their lives and marry the person of their choice. Jassi surely found her love and soulmate. They should have been jailed years ago. And what does this say for the Mounted Police? Are we a country that harbours such evil people? Eleven years - someone should be accountable for the injustice of letting the mother and Uncle live here and escape the responsiblity for their actions.

I've grown up with the harbinger of Jassi's death on my mind. May her soul rest in peace and may her murderers be brought to justice. Through her loss may we realise that patriarchy and violence against women is not a specific 'cultural' issue but a transnational issue. The punjabi community specifically needs to work on open and loving communication between parents and children and nurture an environment where young women can feel safe in living the lives they choose. RIP Jassi.

I remember first seeing this documentary on CBC 10 years ago, and I remember feeling so disgusted and angry. How could any mother do this to her own child? How could a mother give the "go ahead" to the uncle to kill her flesh and blood? How can an uncle be so evil in harming your own kind, the person you are to love and protect?. I have since seen this documentary 4 times and each time I see it, I feel more angered...angry at the police for not doing enough... not taking immediate action. Angry at the fact that the mother and uncle went on their lives for years as if nothing happened at all! Just 2 weeks ago, they aired this on CBC and then the very next morning, I watch the morning news in shock as they say the "Mother and Uncle are under arrest for Jassi's murder"! This was the best news of the New Year! Good news and yet at the same time very sad, sad that this happened 10 years after the fact!!! May Jassi rest in peace and may your story live on forever! I know this story has personally touched me since watching this heart-breaking story and I am sure it did the same for many others.

My heart broke for this beautiful young lady and for Mithu and the others who loved her. She was beautiful and had her whole future ahead of her...had she not been in bondage to a patriarchal system where women are just property. Her mother should be hung from the town square and her Uncle should be shot by a firing squad of her friends. Canada and the RCMP should be ASHAMED of themselves because we are ashamed of them. The RCMP representatives have seemed as dishonest and evasive as the perpetrators of this vicious and tragic murder. They have Jassi's blood on their hands for turning a blind eye to this incredibly cruel injustice to a vulnerable Canadian girl who asked for help and lived in fear.

We, as Canadians, cannot stand back and let this crime, against another Canadian go unpunished. And especially when there is multiple pieces of evidence showing who the murderers were! We need to make it clear to other countries that woman in Canada are equal citizens and are free to choose there own paths in life without fear of harrassment or even death!

It makes me embarrassed that our RCMP's have done NOTHING for Jassi. They lied to us, the public, on the Fifth Estate saying their hands were tied and they could not arrest her mother or uncle. This is simply NOT TRUE. What took them so long?? Our RCMP should be ashamed of themselves! And to the Mother and Uncle of Jassi, I hope you rot in hell.
