Vancouver International Auto Show

For the past 90 years the annual Vancouver International Auto Show has been the premier automotive showcase in Western Canada.
This year’s show includes the popular SuperCars showcase that will feature the greatest combined value of luxury vehicles in the event’s history, pointing towards Vancouver’s coming of age as an epicenter of exotic motorcars.
This year’s showcase automobiles will represent the fastest, sleekest, sexiest – and yes, most expensive – cars in the world which together have a total combined MSRP in excess of $2.8 million.
“With such a multicultural population and a temperate climate year-round, there’s an unprecedented demand for the ultimate in luxury vehicles in Vancouver and I think the caliber of the 2010 SuperCars showcase is a reflection of that,” says Asgar Virji of Weissach Performance Ltd., established in 1980.
“Our drivers’ passion for high-end automobiles has always been more visible than in other cities, but we’re meeting more enthusiasts than ever before who are demanding the latest and greatest in super cars – we are a city with gas in our blood!”
This year’s SuperCars headlines with the 2010 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé, the latest in the long tradition of hand-built convertibles by the iconic British manufacturer.
A vehicle that oozes class, the Coupé features rearward opening suicide doors and mixes function and art with a teak deck (reminiscent of a classic boat deck) that is handmade from 30 pieces of beautifully grained wood.
Lotus Cars speak style, flare and speed – all of which will shine on the show floor with the 2010 Evora, Elise and Exige 240. Few cars can match the delicacy and accuracy of the Elise with its supreme steering, throttle and brakes but this year Lotus tries to outdo itself with the eagerly-awaited Evora, which enters the sports car market as the world’s only mid-engine 2+2. For “extreme performance” seekers, the Exige 240 offers speed and control as much on the track as it does on the back road.
A more aggressive design, improved technology and more power will be showcased with the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Roadster, known for its characteristic wing doors. And the highly anticipated 2010 Aston Martin Rapide proves that sports-car beauty comes in all sizes – even four doors. Also featured is Bentley’s new 2010 Continental CGT Supersports, featuring a beefed up interior and exterior to handle its powerful new 621-hp engine.
It’s the fastest and most powerful Bentley ever produced. Enough said. Rounding out the showcase is none other than the 2010 Ferrari 16M Scuderis Spider, a hardcore convertible sports car wrapped up in a lightweight, striking package.
The Vancouver International Auto Show runs Tuesday, March 30 through Sunday, April 4. For more information, visit www.VancouverInternationalAutoShow.coms
