Vets get war booty from US

More than 60 years after the Second World War ended, about 18,000 surviving Filipino veterans will receive a cash payment from the United States as part of its financial stimulus package, Philippine officials said. Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo said the nation shared a "profound sense of joy" in seeing the service of the veterans recognized after years of lobbying the U.S. Filipino veterans living in the U.S. will get a lump sum payment of $15,000US and those still in The Philippines with receive $9,000US.
