Anna Tse and her father Andy have a lot to celebrate. The owners of Dollar Fa Choy, a dollar store located at 5139 Victoria Drive, just enjoyed their six-month anniversary in September 2014 and held an in-shop event which doubled as a fundraiser for the Cadets.
Andy Tse came to Canada from Honk Kong to explore a better life at the young age of eighteen. His first stop was Toronto, where he studied at Ryerson University.
In the early 1980s, Vancouver became his new home, and in 2014, he opened Dollar Fa Choy for his daughter Anna so she could learn all the ins and outs of small business. She admits it has been an interesting learning curve for her, but that managing inventory is a fun challenge. Andy joins her as a coach and to help her behind the till.
They set up shop where a former Dollar store previously existed and improved it greatly by offering many new articles, a grocery line, photocopying and fax services, and over 2,000 items including bike items.
Anna provides friendly and outstanding customer service and she also promotes greenness. As one customer said, “they are awesome at being congenial,” and she receives recognition for a well organized, clean store.
As their name implies, “wealth, luck and prosperity,” the Tse’s have well wishes for all customers and their new community on Victoria Drive.
