Thai trade delegation visits Vancouver

A high profile delegation from the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand led by Phongsak Assakul, past chairman, recently visited Vancouver.
The event, held on Monday October 6th, was hosted by Thai diplomats led by Pisan Manawapat, ambassador to Canada.
This is the largest trade official visit to Canada.
On the agenda was the trade and business situation in Thailand, and on increased cooperation between the two countries.
Mr Phongsak, while addressing the business community spoke on several factors including the potential of more bilateral trade and Vancouver being a gateway to the east. He called on greater cooperation between the countries in service sector investment.
Thailand is country of approximately 65 million people located in the heart of Southeast Asia. The country is the world’s 17th largest manufacturer, and 24th biggest economy by purchasing power.
Mrs. Sutthiluck Sangarmangkang, the Thai Consul-General, here in Vancouver also stated that Thailand is reaching out to Canada due to its close relations. She added that there is a vast potential for both countries to increase trade.
She welcomed the BC government to make a similar trade mission to Thailand to enhance this relationship.
