Malaysian art exhibition in Vancouver

 

 

Opening this coming week on February 20th in Vancouver’s downtown core is a special exhibition featuring traditional and innovative designs and crafts from Malaysia and Canada’s indigenous communities.
The exhibition is being co-curated by Professor Salmah Abu Mansor of the National University of Malaysia and Sam Carter, Professor Emeritus from Emily Carr.
The exhibit showcases thirty examples of Malaysian and thirty examples of Canadian  applied arts from each country’s respective indigenous communities.
Artifacts include a diverse range of functional works including baskets, textiles, jewellery, mats, souvenirs, scarves, hats, bangles, musical instruments, toys, tools, and much more.

The Exhibition starts on February 20th and runs until March 5th at the Pendulum Gallery (Georgia & Hornby Street).
The exhibition launch gathering is on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 4-6PM.
