Drunken Noms_Restaurant Review Passion8

A toastery consists of a layer of toast and two layers of pastry topped with different sauces and toppings. We tried two of their flavours, starting with the Cream Cheese Orange Toastery. This dessert comes topped with orange marmalade, icing sugar, whipping cream, and sliced almonds. I enjoyed it quite a bit. The pastry was light and flaky while the thick layer of toast on the bottom gave it a little more chew. The toast and pastry were lightly sweet. Most of the sweetness comes from the marmalade and whipping cream. It was not too sweet. It’s unique.

The second toastery that we had was the Nutella Choco Toastery featuring nutella, chocolate brownie, marshmallows, and whipping cream. I’m not a chocolate lover, but I loved this dessert. It also wasn’t too sweet. And the hazelnut chocolate flavour went really well with the pastry. I would happily return for this dessert alone.

Passion8 also features milk shaved ice bowls featuring a number of different toppings. We had the Matchacha Bowl consisting of 100% milk shaved ice with matcha, red bean, mochi, sliced almonds, and whipping cream. We got the larger version, which could feed two to three people. The milk ice had a light, fluffy texture, and was only lightly sweet. The matcha lent bitterness to the dessert, which helped balance the sweetness of the whipping cream. Texturally, the chewy mochi and denser red beans were also quite pleasant. This is a great choice if you’re looking for a lighter option.

Overall I was pretty impressed with the desserts that we tried at Passion8 Cafe. I wish we were able to try there cronuts (which were not available at the time).
